BOOM BOOM pow 2010

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

As 2009 winds to a close, I’m sure most of us are busy planning their new year party or researching Google for post-hangover solutions (in advance) :)

While we do that, let’s take a moment to make some resolutions that are easy to make but not necessarily easy to keep. But I believe the returns on them are awesome

Let’s watch our mouths before we rain abuse on the hapless waiter trying to serve us during rush hour

Let’s think about others for a change – say no to being selfish!

Let’s not fall into the trap of paralysis of analysis for every little thing that happens to us – learn to let go!

Let’s remember to be thankful for all our blessings

Let’s be there for our friends – for all the times they have been there for us, we need to return the favour (if not now, when?!)

Let’s understand that all unhappiness is transient – remember “this too shall pass”

Let’s not deprive ourselves of things that make us happy, as long as they don’t make someone else unhappy – if you’re a foodie, eat, but in moderation!

Let’s appreciate the little joys of life – personally, watching aeroplanes makes me happy :)

Let’s say a kind word to a child. There is no greater joy than listening to a child blabber about things that make her happy (I recently spoke to my friend’s daughter for 10 minutes about her favourite dish, Maggi) :)

Let’s learn to laugh, especially at ourselves (it’s free and it’s great therapy for unhappiness!)

Let’s understand that work is a part of life, it is not all of life

Let’s not watch our pursestrings for every little thing (if you don’t spend your money on little things that make you happy, what will you do with all that money?)

Happy new year!

ANO ANG DAPAT ITUKSO SA’YO?

I was wondering whether the result I get from the quiz I took in other social network is valid. Yes, the test is not good and inaccurate in its interpretation. They just making fun of the test taker and nothing would left to you once you’ve read the precanned interpretation. Ridiculous to read the result and somehow very hilarious in content. I also wondering where did they get those result and who is the master mind of that business. Here’s what I believe in your test. To make people funny and subject of insult. Not unless your are open and embrace your sexuality. Whatever would be the result I certainly don’t agree and I don’t take it seriously.
and the result says….

Bakla! Yan ang tukso sa’yo. Mejo kumekendeng ka pag naglalakad. Pumipilantik ang daliri at palaging mga girls ang kasama mo pero hindi ka manyak. Pero for some reason, mabilis ka tumakbo.

Job fair, SM and Me

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

At last I’m already here in Accenture manila DC. My start was December 1, 2009. I’m so happy of that and it’s been months of waiting. A thought of experiences is on my head now. Actually, I didn’t expect that I would be here in this company and I don’t really know at first the BPO industry and the call center. Accenture was never in my mind, since I don’t know some good names of company and its background. I’m a graduate of psychology in down south of Mindanao and been here in manila for work. I mean looking for a decent job. It seems my luck for the entire months was not there. After job searching I actually enjoy malling and window shopping (since I don’t have money or work). That’s usually I do after heating my self outside and sweating of walking and stretching my neck 180 degrees just to see opportunities in the wall or streamers. (Laughs) I have been doing that for months.

One day I decided not to search for a job and instead went to mall just to stroll around and enjoy the comfort of free air-conditioning. Then I manage to utilize all the floors until I reach the 5th floor. 5th floor is the event area of the mall, which includes the job fair or trade center functions and other activity. I wasn’t interested to check what is inside the job fair since I didn’t dress appropriately and my resume is not updated. Being hesitant to check or to apply inside I gave my self a walk inside just to know what’s going on.

I was attracted to the both of the company and its color. Yes! The color is orange. Orange is the color symbol of Accenture. At first I didn’t know that is Accenture. I was there in the both just checking around on marketing of the jobs they have for us. There was a girl came to me and asking if I want job. That moment I was out of my mind. I didn’t respond to her and I just smiled at her. Maybe I didn’t expect that someone would approach me and offer me something. The good thing was, she has this adorable charm and it paralyzed me for short time. She clarifies to me that if I’m interested to work with them. As I heard that I said to her “Yes”. She immediately told me that it’s a one day process. Then she demanded my resume. I’m a little shy at that time because I gave my inundated resume and dress up poorly that day.

I took the exam inside their booth and series of interview was next. I manage to pass the entire interview. Being overwhelmed at that time, there’s always a feeling of rejection after that interview. To my surprise the HR who approached and offer me something told me that I passed and I have to sign the contract right away. That day was my happiest moment in my life. More than winning a million bucks in lottery. (Laugh)  I went home with smile on my face. Thank you so much Accenture and the nicest HR recruiter of Accenture. That’s what we call “best practices”.

Things I learned so much is that if there’s an opportunity inside the mall try to seek and look inside. Malling is not a bad habit at all. Going to malls does help losing my waist line and increase my activity on practical buying. I as person should be productive most of the time and keeping faith in God. I wouldn’t be here in Accenture without those malls and of being outgoing person.
