As 2009 winds to a close, I’m sure most of us are busy planning their new year party or researching Google for post-hangover solutions (in advance)
While we do that, let’s take a moment to make some resolutions that are easy to make but not necessarily easy to keep. But I believe the returns on them are awesome
Let’s watch our mouths before we rain abuse on the hapless waiter trying to serve us during rush hour
Let’s think about others for a change – say no to being selfish!
Let’s not fall into the trap of paralysis of analysis for every little thing that happens to us – learn to let go!
Let’s remember to be thankful for all our blessings
Let’s be there for our friends – for all the times they have been there for us, we need to return the favour (if not now, when?!)
Let’s understand that all unhappiness is transient – remember “this too shall pass”
Let’s not deprive ourselves of things that make us happy, as long as they don’t make someone else unhappy – if you’re a foodie, eat, but in moderation!
Let’s appreciate the little joys of life – personally, watching aeroplanes makes me happy
Let’s say a kind word to a child. There is no greater joy than listening to a child blabber about things that make her happy (I recently spoke to my friend’s daughter for 10 minutes about her favourite dish, Maggi)
Let’s learn to laugh, especially at ourselves (it’s free and it’s great therapy for unhappiness!)
Let’s understand that work is a part of life, it is not all of life
Let’s not watch our pursestrings for every little thing (if you don’t spend your money on little things that make you happy, what will you do with all that money?)
Happy new year!
